Attention Parents of P4 to P6 students.

Are you worried about your child’s failing or stagnant Chinese composition grades?

If so, your child is about to receive the help he truly needs.

Let’s face it. Your child may be doing well in other subjects and Chinese is the one that’s pulling his overall grades down.

As such, he risks scoring a lower aggregate and missing the cut-off point to get into the secondary school of his choice.

Every mark counts in the Chinese Paper. You recognise that composition is the component that’s weighing your child down the most.

Knowing he doesn’t have enough writing practices in school, you send your child for tuition, hoping he will see the light and write better.

Many practices later, he still cannot write well.

What is the issue? He has already written quite a lot!

On top of your frustration, you see your child’s dejected look and you feel sorry for him.

You worry for him and that keeps you up at night and interrupts your work in the day.

Gosh, you are not sure how you can help him anymore.

Yet you can’t give up now.

His PSLE is coming.

You are running out of time.

If you are facing the above situation, you are not alone.

After helping over 500 students, we have identified the crux of the problem. It is something that drilling alone cannot solve.

The issue is with the teaching and feedback your child receives for his writing.

Think about this.

He has always heard teachers saying ‘Show not Tell’. Has he been taught how to do that?

He wants to express his ideas but lacks the ability to write them out. Does he have the vocabulary and right sentence construction?

He sees circles in red, question marks and comments in Chinese in his marked composition that he doesn’t even understand. Does the feedback reach him?

If you want him to receive help in all the above, click on this button to see the one-stop solution that is available for him.

Yes, I want my child to have all tools and feedback to score at least 10 MORE MARKS in his writing

Before I continue, let me introduce myself.

I am Teacher Rosalind.

It’s my passion to help students achieve their desired grades in Chinese by guiding them to develop effective language learning strategies and skills.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve taught local and international students in private and school settings. Besides teaching, I manage a writing portfolio, translating documents and major exhibitions for government and private organisations. Since 2016, I’ve published 2 Chinese e-books, “7 Secret Chinese Comprehension Answering Techniques Revealed” and “14 Secret Chinese Oral Strategies Revealed” as well as a bilingual phrase book.

Succinct online Chinese Comprehension video series

“Firstly, I’d like to thank you for sharing the 7-day comprehension skills techniques. I found them succinct and effective, thus I encouraged my child to watch them too. She has a weak foundation in MT [Mother Tongue] but is a keen learner. She picked up helpful skills and would have loved to join your class if she had known about you earlier. She found you not only effective, but sincere.

Today is her PSLE MT paper. We would like to thank you for sharing a sincere, effective clip.”

Cynthia

Mother of a P6 student (2016)

Having held numerous Chinese writing workshops, I’ve seen the transformation that my students have undergone just by applying one or two techniques out of the ten techniques that I’ve taught them.

Before – One-line static introduction

After – Four-line dynamic introduction

Before – Skimpy narration of event

After – Detailed narration of event

Honestly speaking, I didn’t love writing in Chinese from the start. When I was at your child’s age, I just wanted to score in my exams. Like many students, I battled with writing Chinese during my schooling years. Thank God, the result is I have not scored lower than an A for Chinese writing before. I say this not to boast but to share that I’ve stumbled across and applied effective techniques that have saved me and my students from the agony of writing.

As someone who teaches writing and manages a writing portfolio, I have identified three important elements that can help your child improve in his Chinese composition.

So how can your child improve his Chinese composition?

Icon of a person with WHY on the head, WHAT on the left hand and HOW on the right hand.

To achieve a transformation, he needs to:

Be exposed to good writing and understand essential writing techniques
Know why he s writing and why he should experiment with the writing techniques taught
Know what and how to apply the writing techniques taught and get consistent feedback

Where are you going to find a comprehensive Chinese Composition Writing Programme that addresses all these?

The answer lies in My A* Chinese Writing Toolbox!

Oh, what’s that?

It’s a self-paced online programme with teaching videos that show your child the writing techniques he needs to master. He will also receive feedback on his Chinese compositions to ensure that he applies what is taught.

Know what and how to apply the writing techniques taught and get consistent feedback

Here’s what your child will learn from My A* Chinese Writing Toolbox:

✓ Appreciate why it is important to develop the specific part of a story that will capture the attention of examiners

✓ Know which part of a story deserves special attention and expansion so that he will score in his content (this is what separates an A grade writing from the rest)

✓ Start and end his story appropriately with a bang without boring the examiners with cliches that have lost their effect

✓ Witness how we show and not tell using the 6 senses and other literary techniques so that while others are memorising paragraphs of inauthentic phrases, he would be creating simple but effective phrases to express his thoughts even if he doesn’t have a wide range of vocabulary

✓ Learn how to use specific words to express his thoughts clearly, leaving examiners with no choice but to add credit to his language

Still thinking?

You might be thinking, “Does this work?”

Yes! In fact, studies have shown that students retain their learning better with videos that stimulate their visual hearing and touch senses. Out of all the information transmitted to the brain, 90% is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than plain text. Hence visual education tools such as videos can improve students’ information retention.

If your child is not keen on reading, at least give him some input that will expose him to some ideas and help him gain insights. Watching videos gets your child started. Over time, he will gain substantial input that translates to his writing.

Rather than seeing your child watch Youtube videos that are not properly curated, why not give him something he enjoys and can learn from at the same time?
